  1. This is the article I chose to read and discuss because I think it is really applicable to almost anything in the media industry. http://www.mulinblog.com/training-more-than-equipment-is-key-to-quality-video-production/
The blog post is about people can do equivalent work with less expensive and less quality equipment if they have more training. I think this is especially true for college students who may not have access to the best and newest stuff, but have the talent and skills to create quality work. The classes that we take here at UCO in mass comm take an extremely hands on approach and are almost more similar to a technical school than a lecture class. I really appreciate it because in video and production, a lot of times a camera is a camera is a camera, sure some would argue and be able to decipher the differences and benefits of the specs of each but no matter what the purpose is to capture video and/or photos. If you have the skills to take a great photo, that will come through on a low quality point and shoot or a super expensive one. When people see a video or a picture they see the quality of the piece not the equipment that churned it out. I just thought the article was a great reminder that as long as we are acquiring knowledge and attempting to hone our skills then we are essentially limitless and even with less expensive equipment we can produce really high quality stuff.

  2. I read the, Build a niche content site into communication curriculum: My advice to chairs and directors, post. I think its a great post, talking about how in most media schools there is programs for journalists and broadcasters, but not for online media. The post talks about schools creating a niche online program thats student-ran. The site will help students with content production, content curation, community building, and social media marketing. Its a cool idea to get your schools name out there and its a site you can put up to reach students in a different way. Most schools have papers and televison student-run activities, but their needs to be an online site to advertise for your school. It would be a great learning experience for us students.

  3. One of the posts was about the new position, audience engagement editor, that is appearing more in more newsrooms. In my opinion, that position is just a fancy way of saying public relations but without actually calling it that. More and more, the journalism and PR communities are working together to carry specific functions out. The way that the blog described the duties of the audience engagement editor, sounds similar to some of the PR duties as far the the heavy involvement with the people. I think it is a good idea and beneficial for the position to become apart of newsroom.

  4. The article I read discussed drone videography. This blog seemed to have a whole list of new ways to view journalism and new techniques to be used. The article featured step by step instructions on how to shoot video with a drone. Article after article on the blog discussed new ideas and new ways to view journalism in a digital world.

  5. The article I chose to read was called "A step-to-step guide to shooting iPhone video." I picked this one because there are a lot of people who have iPhones including myself. I don't ever use an actual camera. I love taking pictures and videos of my iPhone so reading this was actually very useful for me. I learned different types of angles to shoot from to make a good video. It is interesting to find out what each shot does. I will use these techniques.

  6. In this Blog I read a very interesting blog about African thread weaving. It takes much patience and discipline and got me thinking about motherhood. it must be a lot like African thread weaving. It is not something that one can become an expert about over night. it takes years to master it, if you ever master it at all. I found the blog to be eye opening and educating.
