  1. I'm not familiar with blogging at all. I had never seen a blog before your class so everything i saw was new to me. Two things that stuck out the most though is the fact that 2/3 bloggers are boys and the fact that people blog the most during work hours which confuses me because if you are working how can you blog? If blogging is your work then how do you expect people who are working to see your posts if they're already busy?

  3. I started a blog about a year ago and half ago. It was a lifestyle blog and as I got busier I lost track of it. I found it interesting that most people blog during business hours. I could understand night time because I have my most creative mind when I am relaxing at night. I also thought it was very interesting that 30% of bloggers were 24-35. I feel like that correlates with most bloggers blogging during business hours, since most people that are in that age range have or are beginning pretty steady careers.

  5. I think it is interesting the varying degree in which bloggers check their analytics. For people producing content they should be constantly checking the analytics to keep content driven towards readers. One thing that looked especially crazy to me is that there are bloggers who make upwards of $150K a year from only one to two hours of work blogging.

  6. Blogging is something I have never tried before. I thought about it, because I love to read and write, but never really had the time to get into it. One thing that I didn’t know about blogs was the fact that blogs are still so popular. I would have thought, as one of the readings said: blogs might be dying, due to the increasing number of other social media sites. It surprised me when the statistics showed how many people are still blogging. Another thing that really stuck out to me was how many people earn money with their blogs. I would not have guessed that they could make money doing this. I know we talked about it, briefly, in class. It surprised me then, too.

  8. I am the last person I ever believed would be actively blogging. I've never had any interest in it until I read "The State of Digital Influence 2013." While I currently produce social media content for multiple brands (the company I work for as well as the university) I haven't been looking at the bigger picture like a brand should. I didn't even think about the differences in stats that interest influencers view compared to those a brand would view.
Further, I hadn't realized that so many Fortune 500 companies maintain blogs. With these things in mind, I hope to maintain my blog following the duration of the class and to hopefully turn it into something that could generate some traction.

  9. I thought it was interesting that the US has about 49% of the blogging population worldwide! That's a lot. So it seems like blogging is more popular in America than in other countries. I also found it interesting that 27% of bloggers are full-time. I wonder what that means exactly. Does that mean they blog 40 hours a week as their full time job? Or maybe it's just that they make enough money from blogging to make a living. Either way, these links had lots of interesting statistics to think about. While I don't think I could make a living from blogging, I feel like it's important to start now so that I have some sort of web presence, which might come in handy later.

  10. It is not surprising news that Huffington post is one of the most popular blogs! I am a not a big fan of blogging, but in Korea, we do have huge community of bloggers and they are everywhere such as food, cosmetic, travel, homestyle, IT etc. Therefore, many people use blog to get some information for particular section and that makes blogger powerful. Now blog is not just only your diary on digital world, it can be another way to build your career or make a digital footprint.

  11. The jump of the number of blogs from 2004 to 2011 is a crazy number. It shows just how much today's society depends on technology. I was also surprised that 2/3 of bloggers are male. Most blogs that I have come across have been women who do more of beauty or lifestyle, so I wonder if there is a specific topic that most of these men blog about or if it is a wider range of focus.

  12. The most interesting thing that I learned from reading these blogs is that 2% of bloggers can spend 1-2 hours a day blogging and can make $150K+ blogging from exotic locations. I'm pretty sure I now have a new dream job. I was also unaware of how prominent blogs were in the business world with 60% of businesses having a blog. Whenever I think of blogs I typically think of something pertaining to lifestyle, so to see that businesses participate in the blogging world as well helped me to see how broad the world of blogging actually is.

  13. I actually forgot I have had a blog before, it was for another class I took in the summer of my freshman year. After the class I did not keep up with it and wasn't very interested in it but I also didn't know you could make money off of them! I also find it interesting that 2/3 of bloggers are male. Take our class for example, we only have two males signed up so the fact that more males blog in the real world really surprises me!

  14. I got my email to work, but that's no excuse for this being late really. I had no idea blogging has become so popular that people are using analytics to keep track of their own blogs. I suppose that would help a lot in knowing when you'll drive more viewers. I also was unaware that so little is business focused. I would imagine more blogs like Business Insider would be more beneficial to the economy and worth a read than propaganda and tabloids.

  15. The articles were quite intersting. I am amazed that blogging for a few hours a day can impact a salary so greatly. I think it is incredible that you can share your life with the world and get paid to do so. Blogging is new to me and I am unaware of how popular it has become. I am very excited to get started on my blog and I hope I can make something of it.

  16. It's embarrassing to admit, but I had no idea that Huffington Post was a blog. So that was new. I think it's amazing how quickly blogs have become popular-- especially among journalists. I never thought that they would be beneficial because I always thought, "Who would want to read what I have to think?" I'm really excited to have an online presence aside from social media or The Vista!-Alex Brown

  17. I had never seen or had my own blog before this class so all this was new information to me! The two things that stood out the most though was the fact that 2/3rds of bloggers are males and the other interesting thing was that 60% of blogs are business blogs.
