  1. This article itself is "electing Trump" by calling Trump the likely Republican candidate nominee. It's frustrating to people like me who do not support Trump and are hopeful for someone else (literally anyone else) to take the lead. I think the media has absolutely played a role in Trump's success. In my opinion, people are voting for Trump because he's the only candidate they know anything about. The media has done a very poor job of staying unbiased in this race and it's incredibly frustrating to watch.

  2. I have always thought that the amount of media attention Donald Trump receives directly affects his popularity. If we have other candidates as much attention as Trump, we may have a different front-runner. That thought alone is scary. Media attention plays a major part in who receives more votes for office. People forget to have their own opinions and are easily manipulated by what the media projects.

  3. The only candidate that anyone ever talks about is Trump. Even those that don't support him. I believe that, unfortunately, what Trump said was correct. Newspapers/news stations write/film him and they profit off of him. He's a cartoon character so everyone is fascinated by him. His excessive media coverage may account for his surge in popularity. Personally, I think other candidates should have more coverage. Unfortunately, they just aren't as "news worthy" as Trump because Trump is such a bombastic person that can provoke millions to outrage.

  4. As much as Trump doesn't want to admit it, the media has played a major role in his campaign's success. His radical ideas and promises attract the attention of the media more so than any other Republican candidate. If you're going to cuss, make racial slurs, and pound your fist like a five year old, the media will respond. Whether it's negatively or positively, any exposure is going to be good for Trump. His name is getting out there and it sure is effective. Like so many elections, the media has a very large part in how people perceive the candidates. The relationship between the two is a very dependent one.

  5. I think it's definitely viable. It's also a bit of an ethics issue. Giving one candidate more airtime due to his or her ability to bring in more advertising dollars is ethically questionable at best. Trump's campaign has been outstanding at manipulating the media. Inflammatory statements and outrageous antics are always newsworthy and consistently put the spotlight back on him. Like him or not, people can't help but be drawn to him and hear what he wants to say.

  6. Donald Trump is rich enough that he can afford to pay for media attention but due to his outspoken ways he doesn't have to. He says just enough crazy stuff to get the media's attention, which in turn gives him free publicity. So much publicity in fact that the other candidates are barely recognizable.

  7. Ever since Donald Trump announced his candidacy, he is all people are talking about. I feel as though it seemed like a joke at first, people egging him on to continue, and quickly turned into a real candidacy with set platforms and campaigning. I feel as though the media is giving Trump so much attention because he was already a well-known celebrity. He has been in the media before, and people are feeding off of him being the highlight of the media now. I believe if the people stopped requesting so much Trump news, then we may have a different Republican front-runner.

  8. Donald Trump needs the media to cover him in the way that they have been in order to be elected. However, Trump has now solidified a position in which the media needs him, as well. At this point, if a network decides to not cover Trump they will lose large amounts of viewers. As much as everyone claims to hate him, we are all just waiting for what he has to say next. At the end of the day, whether you believe he is the best candidate or not, you will know what he is doing. You can't always say the same for other candidates.

  9. I wouldn't necessarily say media is electing Donald Trump but I do know that he is a hot topic and readable among other daily news. Especially though social media, I have seen more backlash and roasting of the nontraditional candidate than any other presidential race than before but maybe and even likely it seems because social media has become more prominent it is easier for the media to get the news out about whatever candidate they want or even want to endorse, however I don't necessarily think the media is trying to endorse a candidate so much as they are trying to get readers, understandably, every writer wants to produce content that gets them read, I think that is partially the point.

  10. I actually read and saw this on Twitter and of course I found myself rolling my eyes to the ignorance of such individual. I feel that he is always negative and he is always looking to belittle anyone. Trump may have the money to "make America a better place," but in all reality will he? Like come on..think about. Just saying.

  11. The media has definitely made Trump huge. Whether it be from his campaign or the fact that he is rude towards woman. He is always on social media or his name is always mentioned. I think that social media is definitely helping him keep at the forefront and having his name out there. I don't think they are initially endorsing Trump, but they are trying to get views. Unfortunately that consists of Trump, because he can provide a story full of content.

  12. This article points out perfectly the unfortunate truth about the media and the Trump Campaign's codependence on each other. Networks need subjects proven to get clicks and Trump knows he can use that coverage to further his message.

  13. I definitely think that most of Trump's success has been because of his constant media coverage. It's smart, to be honest. Say something that will cause conversation in the public, that gets covered by media, leading to free publicity. I think that this is so important for the public to realize and see through when making an informed decision on a Presidential candidate.

  14. The media is definitely playing a role in Trumps campaign. Being that trump is very outspoken, very opinionated it attracts the media. Every media outlet is making a profit off of this man shenanigans. The media cares more about things that get peopled fired up than the things that should be winning our country over and Trump is doing great in pleasing the media.
