Two of the things I learned about blogging are one: most of the people who create a blog do not update it regularly, and two: it is possible to create a significant amount of money blogging but not enough to support a household.

I learned two things from the readings that shocked me. The first was that the average age of a reader is 41 years old. I always thought that would be a lot lower. Secondly, it was scary seeing that 81% of bloggers never make any money from it, and only 9% make enough to support a family. This is something I'm really interested in doing, but seeing the numbers so low is extremely disheartening.
ReplyDeleteI learned that most blog readers are much older than I thought. I expected them to be my age, not in their 40s. I also saw that men make up a larger audience than I expected. I assumed that because most bloggers are women, most readers would be as well. However I understand the numbers may be skewed because the small sample of blogs.
ReplyDeleteI learned that most bloggers are well educated and that many are women who have a college degree. I also learned that 60% of businesses have a business or company blog. About 35% of the businesses blog at least one time a month.
ReplyDeleteOnly 2% of bloggers make $150k+ by blogging for a couple hours and there is an estimated 31 million bloggers in the Unites States.
ReplyDeleteI learned that the average age of readers is 41. This really surprised me I figured it would be much lower. Secondly I learned that 60% of businesses have a business or company blog. That is a lot more than I expected.
ReplyDeleteI learned from the readings that the average age of a blog reader is 41. I expected this number to range from 18 to maybe the late 20's. Secondly, I learned that most bloggers are women, and 7 of 10 bloggers have a college education.
ReplyDeleteThere were a lot of things that really stood out to me but the two things that stood out the most are.
ReplyDelete1. The average age of people who read blogs is 41! This really shocked me as I thought it would be from the mid teen to 27 range.
2. That most of the people who blog are college educated.
I always thought that it was mainly women who blog, but I found out that men do it too! In 2012 60% of the bloggers were men. I also learned that 1 in 3 bloggers are moms. I always assumed it was the young and single women who blogged, but I learned otherwise.
ReplyDeleteI learned that the average age of blog readers was 41. I assumed that the average age would be people in their 20's and at the most in their 30's. It was also interesting to see the top used blogging site being Wordpress since I see most blogs on Tumblr. I also liked reading about the female to male percentage of who blogs, I have read many male blogs but majority have been nlogs from women.
ReplyDeleteI think the thing that I found the most surprising as well as interesting was the fact that men made up 60% of bloggers and women made up 40%. I thought blogging to be more of a women's pastime or hobby, but I think that's really nifty that so many men take part in blogging as well. Another thing that I found to be interesting was the wide spectrum of ages that utilize and read blogs. I figured blogging was more of a thing for millennials, but judging my the research on some of the website individuals who are well over there twenties and into to their sixties take advantage of blogging. There's a lot of to find in the world of blogging.
ReplyDeleteOne thing I learned is that the average age of top blog readers is 41, which I would have expected to be more like 25-35. Another thing I learned is that there are bloggers (though only 2% of all bloggers) who make $150K just blogging 1-2 hours a day from exotic locations.
ReplyDeleteI learned that hobbyists make up over 60% of blogs and only about half of those bloggers rely on their blogs to be their primary income. It would be interesting to know more what the average posting amount per month among bloggers because so many of them are not relying on it as a full time income. I also learned that bloggers make up a large majority of comments and conversation in online forums and reviews. Though this definitely makes sense, I had never thought about the fact that many reviews are done by bloggers who often review products versus your average consumer.
