  2. I didn't know why a blog was called "blog". "The word blog itself is a play on the words Weblog, as most blogs will be displayed in a journal or log entry format, where most are updated daily or more frequently than most Web sites would be."

  3. Blogs hit mainstream in the 2000's. A study was released shorty after stating that 32 million Americans read blogs. With it being so popular, politicians, candidates and even mainstream news organizations started to blog to connect with their audience more.

  4. In 1999 there were only 23 recorded blogs, since then the numbers have grown to 1.5 billion. In less than 20 years, that's quite a jump! Also, I was surprised to see on the link that you shared that 2/3 of bloggers are male. Maybe it's just because I tend to follow women bloggers, but I wasn't aware of how many men are involved. However, that was a link from 2011 so it's possible numbers have shifted since then.

  8. I wanted to know more about how bloggers make money. It is interesting to me how some people start a hobby blog and then eventually quit their real job just to blog full time about what they love. While this is great for some people, it definitely isn't the norm for most. There are far too many blogs and not enough readers to really support most people. A blog may have an ad that pays $6 per thousand views, but if you only have a few thousand people reading a month, you only made enough to pay for the hosting fee. Overall, I learned that people can definitely make money on blogging but it takes a whole lot of work and persistence to build a viewership and maintain growth. This article is a really great read for anyone who is interested in ever making money by blogging.

  9. The word "blog" comes from the word "weblog" which was first coined in 1997 by Jorn Barger. He created the word to mean that he was "logging the web" as he browsed the internet.

  10. Most people do not make money blogging and it takes time to make money blogging. Do not expect to make lots of money blogging and Amy Andrews said most people just make enough to pay for coffee.http://amylynnandrews.com/how-much-do-real-bloggers-actually-make/
